Single houses are not more energy efficient than multifamily houses

Holger Wallbaum was co-author of a debate article on energy efficiency of residential buildings in the Swedish newspaper GP. The authors replied to an article that has been published earlier in GP and stating that single houses are more energy efficient than multifamily houses and Sweden should build more of those. Holger Wallbaum stated that this argumentation dies not make sense and the authors neglected very important aspects and their recommendation is not build up on solid ground.

Furbish’s Holger Wallbaum is very honoured to be elected as a new member in the division III “Building and construction” of the very prestigious Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (Kungliga Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien/IVA). IVA has 1,300 elected Swedish and international members. They are leading decision-makers, experts and researchers from the private sector, academia and public administration. His majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf is the patron.

World Sustainable Built Environment Conference goes Gothenburg

“The conference is a unique opportunity for us to present Chalmers, Gothenburg and all of Sweden on an international stage, and specifically how we address issues about a sustainable built environment.”
Furbish’s Holger Wallbaum has been appointed to host the World Sustainable Built Environment conference in Gothenburg in 2020. The conference is only held every three years and is considered the world’s most prestigious conference and forum in the field. A great success for Sweden and the city of Gothenburg who succeeds Hong Kong, which hold the conference in June 2017 with more than 2000 from all around the world.

Designers behind are Carl Christofferson and rahe+rahe design. The furniture is different to anything else on the market and fits the requirements of a new generation of sustainable, flexible and customizable office. It is reusable, due to its assembly on site with a simple Click, which eliminates transportation of unnecessary volumes. It is made of a green certified material: SWISSCDf.

Sweden’s most beautiful office award

Initiated and organised by Swedish Property market branch organisation, a yearly award is given to Sweden’s most beautiful office. During the award ceremony 2016 in Grand Hotel Stockholm, game developer Dice received the first price for their Stockholm office. Furbish’s Ulrike Rahe was member of the jury that evaluated 72 nominated offices from all around the country.

First results on indoor environmental qualities of office buildings presented in Ghent/Belgium

The Smart and Sustainable Office team, represented by Dr. Quan Jing, presented its first findings on perceived indoor environmental qualities and the influence of the outer climate of five office buildings in Switzerland at the 14th Indoor Air conference. The finding will support the development of clear benchmarking values. The findings are considered in the Furbish methodological approach (link to the method part on Furbish website).

Energy efficiency through smart renovation

Coordinated by Furbish’s Holger Wallbaum, the research project DREEAM funded under the Horizon 2020 research program framework of the European Commission, published its approach in Sciene Impact today. The journal is send to the leading decision makers and European Parliament members throughout Europe. The article sheds light on how the renovation of the existing building stock, the consideration of renewable energy systems and a smarter energy management can contribute to achieve the European energy goals and to make the Paris Climate agreement a reality.
